MEMORY FROM MEMORY
Drawing, Alienz Gallery, 2018

Photos by MICHAEL JOHNSON
Ink drawings, multiples. I saw a comic by Jim Trainor in 2016 and tried to draw it from memory in 2018. When I looked up the original comic it was completely different from what I drew. By attempting to copy it, I had created something entirely new. I became fascinated with the way our memories echo ideas, like a hand trying to draw the same forms over and over again and always creating something different.
