“Chew On This” rejects binary notions of the artist/audience hierarchy by giving up authorship of both the artwork and its meaning to the participants. For their part, the artist created the piece while thinking about their vegetarianism, and the fact that, no matter what personal effort they put in, it does not effect the meat industry.
